How to restrict dropbox network bandwith on Mac

Dropbox can sometime consume high bandwidth and you may need to restrict dropbox’s upload and download bandwidth in certain situation. This may be the case at work environment where network bandwidth is shared and you don’t want to consume it heavily. Here are quick steps to restrict dropbox’s upload and download bandwidth. We’ll use Mac for the purpose of this article. The process should be similar on windows.

  1. Open Dropbox preference windows by clicking of Dropbox icon, preference icon and then Preferences as shown below:

  2. Select the network tab as shown below. By default it may not have any upload or download limit.

  3. Then set the limits as per your need as shown below and click update.

Note that for most situaitons default settings with no limit (or auto limit) should work fine. But at times you may need to temporarily change the network bandwidth settings.
