How to run a program as administrator on windows 10

By admin on Dec 8, 2015

Sometime we need to run a program as administrator to be able to perform root privileged tasks. e.g. Editing the windows hosts file is only allowed to administrators. Here are quick steps to run a program as administrator on Windows 10. The same approach should also work on any other windows version.

  1. Search for the program in search box till it shows up in matched programs.
  2. When you see the program highlighted, right click on it as shown below:
    windows-10-run-notepad-as-admin
  3. You should see a menu with one item being “Run as administrator”. Click on it to run the program (notepad in our case) as Administrator.
